Childrens Torch Box Parade

The children of Green Turtle Cay paraded through town with their turkey hats and torch boxes that they made, this years theme was Africa.

Festivities at Green Turtle Cay

Festivities for Thanksgiving included Terry's idea of putting me in my place for a while.

Thanksgiving 2010

We were entertained by the children of Green Turtle Cay as they held a Torchlight Procession thru town on Thanksgiving. It's amazing how many primary school age children live on Green Turtle Cay and how talented they are. Turkey and ham were offered up for a modest price and we had a very old fashioned Thanksgiving feast with the townsfolks not to be forgotten.

Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas

2 Shorty's is the newest take out food stop in Green Turtle Cay, its where all the locals eat. These sisters cook out of their house and do a thriving business. Conch Fritters are $5.00 and Kalik is $4.00. What a deal. They told us that they are so popular with the locals because they cook the best chicken wings on the island ($5.00) conch is for tourists, chicken for residents!

Lobster Time!

One of our favorite things about the Bahamas is their wonderfully fresh and available crawfish. To us its a lobster tail, but truefully its a crawfish (no claws). At Old Bahama Bay the local lobster guys will bring them over to your boat fresh daily and you can drill down the price. The guy in the picture first wanted $8.00 a tail, I ended up paying $25. for 5 and then he threw in another 2 for a cold beer and a pack of Nabs. Easy and I didn't have to spear them myself.

Anchoring at Dragon Point on the Banana River

This is how our evening looked at our anchorage at Dragon Point on the Banana River in Eau Gaille, Florida. The colors were spectacular and we enjoyed a cool evening without any boat traffic. Red skies at night.......

Dolphins following More Attitude

.
We finally feel like we are in Florida when the welcoming committee comes out to cheer us along!
On Indian River approaching Titusville, a group of dolphins follow the boat and make eye contact.

Daytona Beach, Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

A lovely day on the Intracoastal from St. Augustine to Daytona Beach today. Calm water all the way and the tide was generous. We pulled into Halifax Harbor Marina and quickly took a family walk over to West Marine, just because it was there and it was a beautiful day.

Camachee Cove, St. Augustine, Florida

Exactly 14 days after leaving home port of Deltaville, Virginia, "More Attitude" arrives in St. Augustine, Florida. Resting for a day, before moving on to Daytona. Richard and Neena Rodgers, onboard "Sloopless" also arrived in St. Augustine on Sunday, November 7th and a shopping plus lunch trip was planned. After barreling through the local Wal Mart, lunch followed at Hurricane Patty's a local spot located at Rivers Edge Marina. Richard and Terry went to West Marine, and Terry bought almost NOTHING. Unheard of in recent history, no boat bucks this month.

More Attitude on the move!

Peggy, Terry and Heidi onboard "More Attitude" quietly slipped away from her dock on Saturday, October 23rd. Summer on Wilton Creek off the Piankatank River was lovely, hot and full of activity. For the boat, that is, we added some new features and systems to our Nordic Tug in anticipation of our fall cruise down the ICW to Florida and over to the Abacos for the winter. A stern thruster was added, we know, it seems like overkill for a less than 40 foot boat, but we knew it would be a wonderful addition and help us in those tight docking situations involving current and wind. A sunshade for the cockpit was added by "Ships Tailor", our preferred canvas vendor and the salon got a window treatment make over with new day/night shades installed by "Coastal Curtains" this summer. Along with the radar dome, antenna replacement, and new non-skid Terry kept contractors busy all summer with his pecking list for the boat. Boat detailing, bottom painting and our Cummins engine/genset service was expertly handled this summer at "Deltaville Yachting Center" by Lew Grimm, owner of DYC. All systems were a "go" when we pushed off for our trip.
